With origins dating back to the English countryside of the 1700's, this style has traditionally included fruit trees, vegetable patches, never-ending blossoms, bee-keeps - all framed within a short wall of boxwood, a stonewall, or a picket fence. Today's gardener can adapt this form to a private corner, a framework for a back door entryway, or as an exquisite garden retreat that encompasses the entire private landscape. 	Rose A must for every cottage garden. Add the simple beauty of singles, or the dramatic statement made by stateiy climbers. Mix in ftoribundas to keep your garden blooming all summer long. They love a sunny spot and will self-sow - a valuable asset in the cottage garden.	Daylily Daylilies seem to capture the carefree spirit of the cottage garden. Sweet William This biennial is a Dianthus. It is commonly referred to as a garden pink and is a staple in most cottage gardens. It is low growing and therefore perfect for the front of the border.
